It seems like this warming sensation has been in my mid-section close to the spine of my back for some time. Once ina while... I get a piercing pain shoot across my back... but not that often. I get concerned to why this is happening with me. Could this possibly be warning signs of something? It feels almost like i have a round heating pad in this one section of my back close to my spine in my mid-section. I am a 54 yr old woman; and i've been diabetic for almost 9yrs now... should i see my doctor to find out what these symtoms could be?

honestly? the very best way to identify or try and track this particular symptom back to the real underlying generator would simply be to start with a contrasted MRI just to actually kind of 'see' into the unerlying area where you are feeling the warmth and pain, but at the spinal level. since this is in the mid back area, i would speak with your primary about possibly obtaining at the very least here an MRI from the c spine down thru at least the thorasic areas, just to see if there is anything that should not be there or some level of real underlying disc or cord issue too.

the reason for all of this is simply more based upon that warmth you are feeling(and of course the pain too)? this could be a spinal nerve/disc issue that is showing what are called 'paresthesias" or if this were more connected to an actual impact of your cord in some way(could be from many different possibles) you very easily can feel what are more like 'perceptionary' types of sensation or where it actually feels like something is really being 'done' to your body? i have the perceptionary crap casued by spinal cord injury that does from time to time create certain areas of warmth in very specific areas too. i also get this on one side of my nose actually whenever i bend over for some insane reason too.

but i would seriously seek out your primary doc for a referral for that contrasted MRI. heck, you might as well just go for the full spinal scan since you would be needeing almost the whole area anyways since that T spine just does run pretty low into the back. this way you would have covered that whole spinal area with MRI. trust me when i simply say that NO ONE really has a clue here as to what is really honestly going on within their very own bodies until you at least start scanning areas to check. i personally have had alot of different things show up as incidental findings even in my spinal cord when we were simply doing scans on other areas? kinda scarey at times. but there would really have to be 'something' there, usually spinal, just to create what it is you are feeling at all, ya know? that is what NEERAB to be identified right now. just see your primary doc for a full spinal contrasted MRI referral, then see what does or does not actually show itself. that would be what kind of dictates any next steps from there. good luck and please do keep me posted. Marcia
