Contacts from Zire 72 to T5

How are you trying to copy the addresses? Are you beaming them, using import from one desktop to the other, or what? If you are doing this by exporting from her desktop and then importing to the T5 desktop, what file format are you using? The database formats on the T5 and Zire 72 desktops are different so, if you are exporting to an ABA format, that's probably causing the problem. You should export to CSV format and then import. You'll have to use the field matching dialog to get the correct fields matched up between the two formats.

There are two different address fields that you'll have to beam:
Address and Contacts (and all subfiles) in order to get them over and that's the way I'd suggest to avoid having to "map" them as Jim describes.........I just hate having to map fields.

Hi Jim,
I've tried indeed from Desktop to Desktop. I saved her contacts as csv and then import on to my desktop. Obviously I forgot this field matching option. How does that work?

Beam me up Scotty.....it won't take that long, you can get a freeware program called "FileManager" from www.palmgear.com that will allow you to go into a "file" structure and beam them over and avoid the other hassle.
First, Moose's sugggestion is better than mine if you want to overwrite all your address data with hers. You can use FileZ at http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/filez.shtml if you don't already have it. This will allow you to beam files that normally can't be beamed. The Address.PDB file contains all the legacy fields and data and the Contacts.PDB contains the same data plus the data from the additional fields. Beaming these two sets of files will replace the existing files on your T5. I'm still not sure that the database formats are compatible when directly beaming so make sure you have a good backup beofre you do this.
Assuming you want to ADD your wife's addresses to yours then Moose's idea is not the way to go. You should export to CSV format from her desktop, as you've apparently already done, and then import them into the T5 desktop. The import function should recognize that there are field differences and bring up a dialog box that allows you to match the field names between the two files. This is the way is has always worked with previous desktops but I don't have the T5 desktop to confirm if this is still the case.

If your going to have to map the files - I'd suggest taking them into either Access or Excel and treat them as a database as Jim suggested. You can easily export them via CSV format and then open or import them into either program and manipulate.
I prefer Access because it's a true database over Excel but many people are familiar with Excel.
If you don't have either program - mute point but if you do then you can also easily export them in the proper format for importation back into the Palm Desktop.
