Contacts: can't search for Company

Abiiiii :)

I can't search for Company, and it's really annoying.
I have several Contacts which are filed solely as a Company with phone numbers, no Last Name, First Name. I haven't found a way to search & find these contacts, and I find that really, really irritating.
The search function should be able to search and find anything in my Contacts database!

Does anyone have more info about this?

And no, I refuse to put the Company name in the First Name or Last Name field! ;-)

Nope; nothing can be done until Google adds the feature. We can talk/complain about it (as several threads have already done) but the end result is that they will do it when they are ready to unfortunately. I'm waiting for it too, trust me.

This is a really serious problem!! Please fix this. I can't use this phone for business otherwise and you will lose some customer base, trust me.

Also, as much as you and us might hate outlook, but it is the industry standard for probably 90% of the people. There should be a smooth sync embedded with android.

Thank you!

Hello,

I just downloaded Star Contacts from http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.starobject.android.starcontact and it allows you to search via company name. I emailed the developer and he confirmed it also syncs with Google Contacts. I have been using it for a short time but it looks like a keeper to me. It was driving me crazy to not be able to search by company name. I left the Treo Palm OS and was shocked with I lost this ability. Oh well, I love most everything else and it takes time for new products to mature. I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Shawn

Folks,

I too left the Treo/Palm arena for Android and was disappointed by the lack of search capability. You think Google could do a better job with search!

Check out "Power Search" available on the Market. It not only searches Company and Notes in your Contacts, it will search (if you so configure it) Email, Calendar, Notes and much more. And, because it lets you type in your entire search string before initiating automatic searches, searching can be much faster. Two thumbs up!
