I am 14 and a journalist. I recently read The Diary Of Anne Frank, but in a play version, and was inspired to contact Miep Gies. Since she is 99 years of age, I don't think I should wait too much longer. I would love to do an article on her and interview her, since she is my hero. Since I couldn't fly there since no one would pay, I guess I would be left to have a phone interview. But I was told on here, that I should contact a newspaper or magazine and work as a freelancer. Wouldn't I do this before I contact her? I was looking into to contact Upfront Magazine who The New York Times and Scholastic owns. They are a teen based magazine, and since I am a teen, what of a perfect place to contact. Is there any way they would pay for my travel? What would I say when I email them? What should I do? Any feedback is fine. Thanks!
Also, should I try contacting another magazine or newspaper? Is it a waist of time if I contact newspapers such as The New York Times or Time Magazine. Thanks, again!
