contact with friends and family after boot camp?

i know i can write and receive letters while im at marine corps recruit training, and then i have a 10 day leave afterwards...but what then? im going in as infantry, so ill be at SOI for about two months i guess. will i be writing letters there too, or would i be able to make a phone call every now and then? overall, what are communication options over there?

granted, i won't freak out if i can't call or anything, im just curious as to how it works.
