contact name not showing up in text

when I receive a text from someone who is in my contact list, the name always appears on screen and later in my inbox. But there is one person who is in my contacts but when I receive a text from her, her name doesn't appear, just her number (exactly the number that I have saved in my contact for her). Also, when I receive a call from her the name does show up, what does this mean?
 
I would delete and re-add this person from your contact list. Do you have any special charcters in the name, and do you have the 10digit number stored for this person, or do you have like *67 before it or anyhting like that?
 
I agree with Spike, you might also want to ask your friend if she does anything different to block certain things on her end, or if she has anything set up as far as restrictions or whatever on her end thru her provider.

A big reason you would want to straighten this out is depending on who she has for a carrier, will negate any 'free' or In Network stuff if the number is blocked.

I don't know what the issue may be.

Try deleting the contact, then from one of the messages she sends you, save her number from that. See if that helps.

If not, it's a device issue...contact carrier.
 
Heh ..you must try and check the location where the contact have been saved on your phone as most phones have the option of SIM memory or Phone memory .. there would be an indication of that on the phone itself ...as another person has indicated try to delete and save the contact again on your phone ! Worse still? Contact your service provider .
 
Check to make sure you have the area code stored in the contacts number. If you just have the number it will do that.

Verizon does not have sim cards so that isn't it.

I have the same isssue.
And i deleted the person over and over again and changes the name and everythng. and even checked my sim and did all that
Nothing is workinggg.
 
okay!
i figured out the problem, i had the number saved twice...
once as just the number and no name..
an thats wat was causing it to mess up
