I have been dealing with vertigo for about 11-12years now. I'm not on any Rx, it seems my body adjusts when I have an attack. It's hard to explain to people, they assume I'm talking about dizziness and crack jokes. I use to get upset over that but I'm use to it now.
My on set of vertigo began on a plane, (on my way to Salem MA. no less lol) I thought it to be jet lag or something, but 3-4 days later I still had it. I decided to try motion sickness pills, didn't work, so, as I was on vacation, I felt it to be OK to get good and drunk. lol! Well, the next day wasn't so good! lol! As soon as I returned home, I went to see my GP, he gave me anti-anxiety pills and I also was "calm and dizzy". I tried to cut sodium out of my diet, (easier said than done) and that seemed to work for a while, but it came back about a month later. I then went to see an ENT, he examined me, gave me a hearing test, and asked me some questions, he called me a liar! Next, I saw a neurologist, he also examined me, induced vertigo, and asked me some questions. I was very upset with the inducing and began to cry, he then call me a baby and walked out! (At the time, I had no insurance. I was beside myself and needed help badly and was treated poorly) Then I discovered someone who practiced alternative/natural health. She had a 3 month waiting list and I was on it! She told me I had scar tissue in my left ear. I was amazed at this because my attacks would pull me to the left. I told my Mom, and she said when I was 4, I had tubes put in my ears and I got a MASSIVE ear infection in my left ear! That's when I concluded that I had found the cause of my vertigo. (vertigo is a
symptom of the illness)
The funny thing I discovered about my vertigo attacks is that they happen when there is presipitation (sp?) in the area. I can predict snow or rain better that someone with RA!!!
Anyway, I hope you find the solution you are looking for. Sometimes you can't just treat the symptoms, you need to treat the illness.
