No, never. I open the can, squeeze out the water,
and start mixing. What's the point of smelling or
tasting? I make tuna salad the same darned way
every time.
I guess I've never been bit by that. It never occurs to me.
I've noticed that the Bell & Evans air-cooled chicken that I've
been buying lately has a more pronounced odor than the
El Cheapo chicken I used to get. But it isn't off or weird
smelling, just a little stronger.
This site kinda confuses the issue more than clarifies it, but as I
understand it, in general, it's better to buy albacore over other types, as
far as doing the least damage to tuna fisheries.
