Considering leaving palm...

I'm thinking of "converging" and am looking at a number of devices, possibly returning to symbian.

I know this might not be the right place to ask, but the symbian forums seem very quiet:

Does anybody know if devices such as the Nokia Communicator and Sony Ericsson P910i support editing of native word/excel files in the same way that DTG does?

Answers gratefully received...
 
None of the Sony Ericcson phones have any spreadsheet or word processing programs built-in or available. The Nokia 9xxx Comunicator line has both a good word processor and spreadsheet that was ported over from the Psion PDA line. They don't read Word or Excel in native format and have to be converted back and forth using the PC Connectivity Suite. The Communicator series is also quite large and heavy.

Perhaps this'll cheer you up; there are other links (linking to the link) showing this "possible vaporware," but here's a small (retouched enlarged by me) jpg of what (if it's true) should be to say the least interesting.

Now THIS might be worth losing some old apps for - at almost 1" thick it's bulkier, but as a recognized USB drive and still having an SD slot, it might be "neato" -- expected Mid May (??) - unfortunately won't solve your phone problem but I think it might well do everything else.

I've always believed in separation of phone and PDA, so you can get the best of what EACH is supposed to do . . . .
 
I know, this does look quite cool... also the coverged issue is an issue. not sure i'm ready to make the sacrifices required for a converged device.

Despite my love of symbian, a treo 650 is top of the list (currently) and yes i know has issues.

Nokia has 3 new phones coming out that are interesting. One has a 4GB hard drive but do not know about PDA features.

Since Palm has little interest in supporting new Bluetooth for Nokia, I have been thinking of leaving Palm to Nokia.

AND I LIKE MY T3!!!!!!!!!!!
 
having got my nokia 9300 yesterday, i'm eagerly awaiting them to release a version for series 80.
