Hi liz, I have also been to the Mayo clinic in Rochester many times and stayed there overnight with my mother. The clinic is very easy to get to, as there are signs guiding you, straight to it. As for staying over night, I would recommend getting your room the night before your first appt., which is almost always in the morning. There are motels all over where you can get discounts because of appointments, and shuttle buses that take you to and from the motel, which I would highly recommend myself, as you are not driving around looking for a place to park, paying for parking, and walking some distance to the clinic. The motel will give you a schedule of the shuttle bus pickups, which were about every half hour or so when I was there, and all the motels have lists of businesses and places to eat and attractions. Some motels can be way less expensive but also much older inside and some are newer and further out, so you may want to check a few out before deciding on one. Some have restaurants inside, continental breakfast, nearby places to shop, and not all have the shuttle bus, which you will want, way less hassle with a vehicle. The clinic is easy to navigate, you just take the elevator to the floor for your 1st appt., then go to the desk ( A or B ). At this appt., you will leave with a folder of your next appointments, they make it easy for you. So I would suggest choosing your motel first and arriving the day before your first appt., and taking the shuttle bus, your hubby can also go on this bus with you, and it will be less stressfull and much easier to get around once you have been to the clinic a couple of times. They direct you where to go and there are signs all over also. Good luck to you. I hope you find the help you need.
