A lot of the big banks caused the financial crisis, and rewarding them with bailouts is like giving bin Laden a billion dollars for blowing up the WTC. Does that make any sense? They should be punished and jailed. Instead, they own Fox and CNN and MSNBC and they told the American public that if they fail, the economy fails, if Wall Street fails, Main St fails, they're too big to fail, etc. PROPAGANDA! There were many banks that did not fail and we in a position to even buy the failed banks at a huge discount and turn the economy around, but the government bailed out the failing banks and the banks that had done well were now competing against big banks with free federal money. Is that fair??? Is it fair that the Federal Reserve is nothing but a cartel of big banks organized by the government? Can we create a Federal Restaurant Bureau of major restaurant chains to control the price of food, so independent restaurants have to accept those food prices too? Does that make sense? Is this a free market when prices are set by a cartel of major companies and the government? The federal government helped create this mess by relaxing leveraging which means banks could use $1 million in deposits to back $30 million of betting in hedge funds. Gee, I'd love to do that. I put $1K in my bank account, and the bank gives me $30K to gamble at casinos, buy hedge funds, etc. Well, that's actually what happened. You could walk into a bank with no job, no assets, no credit, and get a $300K mortgage.
So now, the government is just creating this massive credit card where it's in $11 trillion debt and going to $20 trillion by the time Obama is out of office. So instead of having a major economic contraction now, we're just putting it off and making it worse so we will have a major Depression in a few years when the dollar crashes and we can't pay the interest on our debt and Social Security collapses which helped finance the huge debt too. Our options are basically disappearing. Instead of sacrificing now to fix our economy, we are forcing future generations to suffer for our mistakes and current indulgence.
No, I don't want a depression, but I'm not going to put it off and make it worse on future generations of Americans. That is the definition of cannibalism. We are eating our young, devouring their future and hopes and dreams with our current spending, consumption, and enjoyment. It's SICK. We are a SICK nation of narcissistic stimulant freaks who are addicted to hyper-consumption and mood drugs to mitigate the slightest bit of inconvenience and suffering. We are WEAK! We reward the failures and punish and tax those who succeed and work hard and smart. And major media owned by corporations own the minds of Americans turning them into braindead zombies on anti-depressants and stimulants and anti-anxiety medication.
