Connecting up digital converter box with dvd burner & vcr?

We have both a dvd burner and a vcr hooked up to our television. We have asked so many "pros" the correct way to hook up these extras. They tell us to set the dvd burner to "3" and set the converter box to the channel we want to record. All we get is snow. Right now we have the dvd burner and the vcr bypassing the converter box. Of course, that won't do us any good soon. Does anyone know the proper way to hook recorders up?
 
Having the 2 recorders going through the converter box will make you see nothing but static, unless if you have both the recorder and converter box on at the same time. Follow these instructions for hooking everything up the right way. First, have the antenna going into the Input in the converter box. Then, run an RCA cable from the output in the converter box, to the RCA input in your TV. Now, you must run a coaxial cable coming from a coaxial wall outlet, into the coaxial input in your DVD recorder. Then, run another coaxial cable from the output in your DVD recorder, to the Input in your VCR. Then, run another coaxial cable from the output in the VCR, to the coaxial Input in your TV. Now, both the DVD recorder and the VCR are on channel 3 or 4 on your TV, and the converter box is on an input channel.
 
Connect the A/V outputs from the converter box to the VCR inputs, you need 3 RCA cords if stereo and the VCR outputs to the TV to monitor the recording.

I don't know about the DVD recorder. You probably can't digitally record because of protection, and you may not be able to record the analog converter output to DVD, 'cos it expects a digital signal. Also, try an antenna straight into the DVD if it has a tuner included.
