What you need is a receiver to connect the speaker to along with an IPOD dock for you to connect the IPOD to the receiver. If you only have one speaker then you will need another speaker to have stereo sound. If you can't find a matching speaker then look for a book shelf type speaker or even a tower speakers. Polk audio would be a good choice. Demo the speaker with your own source of music first and let your own ears be the judge. Hope this will help you out.

In most cases just using a simple male to male AV sound cable you can just hook it up to your sound system then to your iPod
