Connecting iPod touch to the car stereo won't work..but nano does?

I have my nano connected to my car's stereo and it works perfectly, and its been that way for about 2-3 years. The connection goes into the back of the stereo and I connect and keep the nano in the glove comp. When i onnect it, the nano says connected and the stereo does a checking and they sync. I upgraded and got the Touch, but now when i connect it, the touch says "This will not charge" bla bla bla, and the stereo says "checking" I let it "checking" for about 5 mins. It didn't sync. I have the 3.1.1 version software on the touch if that matters. Thanks.
my stereo system is a JVC
 
It makes a difference what deck your using. Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, Pioneer. A couple Co.'s are slow with keeping up wiht the times. Like Kenwood for example. The "Touch", has only been on the market for maybe a year. Go to your local shop to help you.
