my friend connected his radar detector directly to his car battery but through a switch, that way, when he turns off the car and leaves, he turns the switch off and no more battery power is used. i want to do the same thing but not %100 how to. i have the switch and on the bottom of it says, >supply volts...>On ACC >Earth ground.
what wires would i connect from the radar detector or anything else that supposed to connect into the cigarette lighter..to the switch and from the switch to the car battery.
also, would i be able to connect household electronics such charging my laptop through the switch to the car battery? and if yes, then what would i need to connect where?

all help will be much appreciated.
where would i be able to get an inverter and about how much...?
again, any installation instructions on both questions?

You won't be able to run your household electronics off of a car battery without the use of an inverter. As far as your laptop goes, you can buy a power supply/charger that runs off the car battery that replaces the regular household power supply.
