Connect LCD TV to Laptop using HDMI port.?

I have a LCD TV which is having a HDMI port and I wanna connect it to my TOSHIOBA Laptop which is also having a HDMI port. When I connect using the HDMI cable, the TV says "Unsupported Signal, Check your device output". Can somebody help me to sort out this problem.

Are you using a DVI cable? That's what I have to use to connect my laptop to my television.

wow I am having the exact problem. I've got Toshiba too
