I have a dish & LNB for a 9200, I want to use the dish stand alone (it's a spare) with a 3100 receiver... no HD or 9200 attached. Can I connect direct to the HD LNB without using the sw 44 to power the LNB? Thanks for any answers you may have.

The LNBF is not HD, it's just another LNBF that will catch the signal of SAT82. If you install it now it will provide you with more channels just whithin the base

If you want to have the "HD" 82 satellite hooked up, as well as the standard 91 degree satellite, then you will need some sort of switch (either a sw 2x1 or sw 4x4)
Unless you are subscribing to anything on 82, then just hook up the one (91) and save yourself from having to aim, and buy a switch

bear with the Newbie here... all I want is the sd channels on 91 (since I'm only using the 3100). Subscribing to 82 but no need at camp (summer home)....I don't get the "save yourself from having to aim, and buy a switch" part.

I'm entirely on 12 volt with a small inverter so I'm trying to keep anything that uses power out of the equation....i.e. a switch.

help and patience please.... it's appreciated.

Run a line from the lnb located in the 91 degrees slot straight to your 3100. The dish will need to be aligned properly of course

barter is correct and no power is required when only the one LNBF is being used.

Sorry Gnome for the confusion
I was making things too complicated
I thought you might be using the 3100 at your "winter" home as well, and to save you having to run a check switch everytime you moved the receiver from home to home, I was suggesting installing the 82 (HD) LNB and Multi Switch as well
No need though, as 82 is mostly HD and international programming, for now...
Good luck
