Confusion/nausea/faintness after using tanning bed

Hello everyone. I've recently been tested for vitamin D deficiency and it turns out I am grossly vitamin D deficient. So for the past few months I've done a lot of research on ways to maintain healthy vitamin D levels, and of the suggestions was to use a tanning booth for 1-2 minutes 3x/week, which is the equivalent of 20 minutes in the sun, 3x/week (numerous studies indicate this is the optimum amount of sun needed). It is also recommended that you use a UVB-emitting tanning booth, which most closely mimics the sun's rays.

On Monday I spent 2 minutes in a UVB tanning bed, and yesterday I spent another two minutes. However, both on Tuesday and today I felt/feel extremely faint, confused and a bit nauseous, and I just have a hunch that it is related to the tanning beds. I am curious if this is some indication my body is slightly radioactive. I feel slightly warm and almost like I am "humming" or vibrating, my pulse is greatly elevated, and I feel like I'm going to pass out, but not from dehydration. I am also feeling very sleepy, as opposed to fatigued where my whole body is tired. I have also felt very slight pains in what I feel like are my veins -- like tiny blood clots. I feel very confused, am having trouble thinking, like my brain is in a fog. Does anyone know what could be happening? Not sure what they could do at the ER but I am very scared and not sure what to do, except to never use a tanning booth again and to just ride it out. I do have a tendency to get what I believe are panic attacks when I get strange symptoms (this sometimes happens around lunchtime when I'm driving on the highway, or when I'm stuck in my office at work and am worried I won't be able to escape before passing out). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks.
 
JohnC1981: This computer is a little slow so bear with me. Get yourself checked for diabetes and then get to a neurolgist and get an EEg to make sure you're not having seizures. You can be diagnosed with diabetes up unitl 30 years old - Type 1 - insulin dependant. Start there.
 
Would the EEG have to be performed when I'm experiencing the symptoms? I don't know if I could recreate that... Also, what would a "conscious" seizure like that feel like? And what could that be a symptom of?
 
JohnC1981: The EEG will measure the electrical activity going on in your brain. The doctor might do it sleep deprived and also might send you home with electrodes attached to your head to collect data for 2-3 days to see if there's any activity going on in there. They also might want you to have an MRI to see if there's anything in your brain causing problems.

There are several different types of seizures - Grand Mal, Petite Mal, Complex Partial, Simple Partial, and more. Sometimes meds help control them and sometimes they don't. I've been having seizures for 5 years due to hormone problems with the onset of menopause. I know I've had a seizure because I lose my short term memory and have disorientation and confusion and have to remember what I was doing.

Have you ever had any head injuries? That could be a problem. Do you have any chemical sensitivities? I can't be around perfume, cigarettes, gasoline, smoke from fires,
and mold. They all increase the amount of estrogen in me and make me have a seizure.

The triggers to my seizures are the chemicals, fluorescent lights, lack of sleep, MSG, EMF's (cell phones, cordless phones, computers, video games, TV), plastics (especially putting plastics over food in the microwave), red meat (because it's fed hormones), Soy (it's a phytoestrogen), AND..........believe it or not the NEW MOON and the FULL MOON!!!!!!!!!

You really wouldn't know that you had a seizure unless you felt some loss of memory or maybe bit your lip or did something dumb. I was crushing water bottles for a while. That's when I knew something happened too. You might get lucky and have someone witness something. Your best bet is to get the EEG and MRI and see what they say and then take it from there. You might also want to start taking some magnesium and B6 and B12 vitamins. They're good for the nerves.
