I had a MRI done in 2005 it showed that C5-C6 were herniated. I then had another MRI done in 2006 it showed that C5-C6 herniated and C7 was bulging. I then had another MRI in Jan 2009 It showed cervical spondolysis nothing was mentioned about herniated discs. I went to a neurosurgeon in 2006 who did carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand was suppose to do surgery on the left hand and then on my neck but I never went back because of insurance reasons. I saw a neurosurgeon today I am in constant pain, He stated I did not have herniated discs. But wants me to see a Chiropractor and start with a pain management Dr. Durning the visit he kept saying do not let anyone operate on your neck or spine. I am confused how to MRI's showed herniated discs now it doesn't what did the discs repair them selves. Should I get a second opinion?

Definitely get a second opinion. I was suppose to have surgery 2 years ago on the left ulnar nerve and both wrists for carpal tunnel. I didn't have the surgeries because I had my lurabar fusion instead and I just had an EMG study done and now they don't show any problems with the previous nerve study. Also, I just had a myelogram done and the report stated that I was fused but when I went to my neurosurgeon this past Monday and I told him I was still having a lot of problems he showed me the x-ray and he said you are NOT fused. There is about 1/4 of it fused but not complete and he said that would explain my pain. I sometimes wonder about all the stuff we get done and rather it is necessary or not. My doctor does not go by what the radiologist states but he actually looks at the x-ray/test himself.

Good luck.
