Confused with E50

Hi, I brought the Nokia E50 and I was messing around with it and there were somethings that I didn't quite get how to use.

1). Why is it when I click on 'Contacts' I cannot view my contacts that are on the SIM card? I have to go to 'Options > SIM Contacts > SIM Directory'. Is there a way to just set it directly?

2). How can I set it so that the text messages will be saved to the SIM card instead of the phone memory?

3). And also is that blueish colour the only colour I am going to have to use unless I download new themes?

4). Is it possible to change the six shortcuts that are located on the top part?

5). Also I know that in 'General' profile you can keep the date on the main screen, but once you set it to a different profile like 'pager' the date goes away, is it possible to set it back?

1) To set it directly, copy your SIM contacts to the phone memory. It's so easy to copy them all or delete them all that it really shouldn't matter.
2) I believe the only two options regarding where messages can be saved are the Phone Memory or the Memory Card. I suggest the Phone Memory.
3) If you're referring to the blue background, there may be some more themes on the phone. Since it's an E-series, I'm going to guess no, so yes, you'll have to download a different theme if you want a different color. I recommend these.
4) Off the top of my head, Settings>Standby>Active Standby Apps? I don't have my phone in front of me.

1). Ah alright I get it. So if I need to add a new number then I can go into the SIM directory and just add a new SIM contact there and just transfer him/her to the phone.

2). Understood! Also when it says 'No. of saved msgs: 20'. Does that include 'Save sent messages' too or just inbox.

3). Since I don't have internet on my phone, is it possible to use the PC Suite and download it though there and then transfer it to my phone?

4). And I can't even find where Standby is, so I couldn't find Active Standby Apps.

5). If anyone knows this one...

5). Means that when you have the profile set to 'General' you can see the date on the main screen, but if you change your profile, to let's say 'Silent', you won't be able to see the date, is there a way to make the date stay up there no matter what?

never noticed that before.

as far as i know there is no way to change that. you will have to rely on the screen saver for the date or open the calender app.

Oh yeah just wanted to ask is the E50 supposed to lag a little when you switch between different things? Like from the main screen to typing text messages it kind of lags.

Will having a 1GB microSD card or it being connected to a bluetooth headset affect it?
 
symbianthemes.com, mobile9.com, and zedge.net are the top sites. ipmart-forum.com has a pretty big forum on s60 themes, and there are some small sites like e-series.org and romankeller.ch that have some really nice themes. My personal favorite is called Clarity by the user "Sub" on the ipmart forums.
