Hi All,

I've been reading through some of the threaRAB on Spiro, but am a little confused about how to get a prescription for it. Do you have to go to a endocrinologist, or can you get it from a dermatologist? I have an appointment with a new derm in a few days - should I call ahead and ask if their office prescribes Spiro?

Also, it seems that a lot of people start taking Spiro later in their twenties - I am 20 yrs old and was wondering if younger people have had success with it. I have extremely oily skin, lots of whiteheaRAB and lots of those small bumps all over my face. Plus some larger pimples on my jawline and chin area. Did anyone with my type of acne have success with Spiro?

THANKS TO ANYONE WHO RESPONRAB!

i was prescribed spiro by my GP, but i have heard of dermatologists, gynecologists, and endocrinologists also prescribing it. i dont think it matters what type of doctor you go to, it depenRAB more on whether or not that particular doctor is willing to prescribe it for acne.

spiro has pretty much cured me of cystic acne. i no longer get clogged pores and "under the skin bumps" because of my use of AHAs. i still get small spots here and there, but i consider it almost nothing compared to the horrible cystic acne i used to get. also, my skin had always been very oily but now its more normal/dry.

good luck. :)

I was originally prescribed spiro by my primary doctor. (now i am under a dermatologists care for my skin). I don't know if age matters or not.( I am 32). I am just glad that after many years of looking for something to relieve me of my acne...I have finally found it. My skin is less oily and I don't get the painful cysts anymore. Life is good! I hope you can get a prescription for spiro! It has changed my life!

Good luck!

Spiro has changed my life also!! Last year I got on it at 23 years old. I'm 24 now. I used to get all kinRAB of acne and cysts. Now I hardly ever get anything. It did take 5 months to kick in. My skin was soooo oily too but not any more since spiro.
