Confessions of a Shopaholic

Maybe the execs wanted to change it so much for the US market.:(

I don't know otherwise...after all Notting Hill and Bridget Jones have done all right.;)

I AM disappointed...not least because the first book especially has made me ROFL a few times, and well, it's a shame.

So he's British?

And Becky American. Hmmmm.

Still trying to find out film times, but yup, if I do, and it's on, I will.

Edit: Sorry just reread your previous post where you said Luke is still British in the film.:o:)

The film is not like the books but as a stand alone film this really is awesome and I'd recomend it to anyone. Isla Fisher is a great actress, and looks stunning, theres lots of funny scenes, and you can really emphsise with the charactors, particularly Isla.

She was also in Home and Away!

I might be seeing this, it looks really good.

Just to ask, is Lady Gaga's version of 'fashion' used in the movie at any point?

it is part of the soundtrack but i know a lot of films just bung it on the credits.

Thats what I think too, and I was so excited when I first heard they were going to be made into a film! Can't believe Becky's american in it when the move to New York was such a big thing in the book! Also it looks like Luke is going to be her boss in the trailer which changes so much!!:mad:

Watched this tonight. I wasn't expecting much & I haven't read the books.

I LOVED it!! I don't think I've every laughed so much during a movie. Ok, so it's not the most intelligent movie in the world but it sure made me laugh!!

As a fan of chick flicks, I definately recommend this. :)

the only thing that bothered me and please don't anyone get me wrong on this, is why it had to be turned into an american thing. the books are british, the characters are british, so why did america feel this driving need to make it all american, apart from luke. don't get me wrong, I love america and the people are lovely, but I just can't understand this need to knick things from us and turn it* american. Does anyone get what I mean or am I just being silly and pathetic* :o

I haven't read the books so that wouldn't affect me, but this same thing happened with Bridget Jones. I love those books and the films were a travesty of them! So much was left out or altered that I was really disappointed. Her frienRAB for example, who are so important to her in the books ended up being useless after thoughts! I was furious about Renee whatsit being cast as Bridget too, though I do admit that her accent was brilliant and I had no problems with her in the role.

Anyway, I'm now in two minRAB whether to just see the film, or read all the books which might then mean I can't watch the film or I'll be cross :D

My daughter and i went to see this last week. I told her we had to try and ignore the fact that we've both read and loved the books, from the trailers we'd seen on tv we weren't that impressed.

As the film went on it made more sense, its a mix of the first two books but of course that had to make it all american based as no doubt the money men dictate. Surprised to say we really enjoyed it, not a patch on the books but a good fluffy chick film to lose yourself in for a couple of hours.

Yeah totally but i think they believed it would make more money if was shot in America as more Americans would go and see it. Its stupid really personallty i think it would have been a lot better starting the film in London then moving it across to New York.

Well that was disappointing , couldn't they have gotten Robin Askwyth to make an appearance , a cameo at least .

and where was the nudity and the short-of-work British character actors ?

as sequels go this is up there with Carry on Columbus .

I think you have the wrong film, it is the first film not a sequel to anything, why on earth would there be nudity and who is Robin Askwyth and why would they make an appearance.
