Concerns about SMT5800 battery life (Need a long-time SMT5800 owner!)

Hello! I was in a Verizon store today looking for a replacement for my crippled Samsung Alias. I eventually selected the Verizon Wireless SMT5800, but when I spoke with the store's manager, who had owned one for some time, he warned me that his consistently ran out of battery life after about four hours of use. Can anyone who's been using one of these phones for a few months confirm/deny this? I'm hoping it's a problem specific to his unit. Otherwise, Ima gonna haveta start looking at the Blackberries.

(Not that there's anything wrong with Blackberries. I'm just a sucker for moving parts. :p)

4 hours should be closer to the use if you are REALLY using your phone (aka solid internet surfing with WiFi or have the camera viewfinder going the whole time) I don't know this exact phone very well, but from the specs I have found (battery/power usage) 4 hours should be the quickest anything on this phone could drain the battery. In standby making normal person calls/texts/surfing you should last 30-60 hours

wonder if there's not a way you could get a extra battery and independant charger? this was reccommended to me but i have had a hard time finding a charging dock

I haven't looked, but I usually have good luck on cellphoneshop.net

The stuff is usually cheaply made, but charging docks and such don't need to be the best quality, they just have to work. (on a side note they sell memory very cheap and it is brand name)

I came across your question while shopping for a new smt5800 battery. However, I have been happy with my phone for almost two years and only recently have needed to recharge in the middle of the day; after about 6 - 8 hours of moderate use. I hope this helps with your decision.
