Concerning the "battle": Faith vs Science?

I've notice a lot questions & answers by both athiests and Christians basically taking sides in some kind of cosmic battle between science and faith, as though they are in opposition. However, since science, by definition, is the study of the physical, natural world, and faith is dealing with the supernatural (outside natural), are they really at war with each other? Should they be? How are they so against one another if they are dealing with separate spheres (natural/supernatural)? Additionally, can either sphere, as it were, shed light on the either?
