Why is it that whenever I see a Christian arguing with a Unitarian Universalist(which is what I am), the Christian always uses arguments based in Christian doctrine or dogma, and tries to debunk our legitimacy through that? Is it because we use the term "Church" even though we do not claim to be a Christian denomination?
Actually, I notice that for any argument. Why is it that Christians use their own Dogma and Scriptures to try and argue with others- when logic dictates that using it will have no sway over the debate at all. In fact, it loses credibility for them.
I really want to know why Christians do that? Why do they assume by quoting scripture, we'll all automatically see the error of our ways? Do they not know most of us have already engaged in Scripture study of a deep and exegetical nature?
Why do they think quoting the bible is a valid argument, when the ones they engage in debate with don't see it as credible at all.
