Concerning 68 Whiskey in the Army.?

In the Army, Is 68w training a prerequisite to getting 68k or 68p? My recruiter keeps telling me that I cant do 68k or 68p unless I do 68w first. Is this Correct? I wonder because I have a brother in the Army that is a 68K and he says you do not have to do 68W to get 68K.

Is your ASVAB score not as good as they are expecting it to be? There are waivers, but sometimes they may require you to do an easier MoS to meet the score requirement instead.

Your best bet is to ask another recruiter about how this is happening, or try another branch and see if you need to be a medic before you can get an advanced medical MoS.
 
...well he is sort of right...all Medical MOSs...except 68J, 68G, and 68M have to do GMO (General Medical Operations) which is basically a cut down 68W course which must be done before going to K or P course...K and P are all about a year or a little less because you also have to do On the Job Training (OJT) after you finish the course work...I think he is just trying to sell you 68W since it is a hurting MOS...if you have the scores for 68K or 68P...hold out for it...tell them you will not sign a contract for anything but...and sooner or later they will give it to you...but 68W has better Promotions and I enjoyed my time as a Combat Medic...but after four years I switched to 68J...but as a young Soldier it was fun...got to love being an Infantry Medic...but I tell you 68X or 68A are probably the best of all of them...
