I have been told that Active Military service members do not need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Is this true, or is it only for specific states?

I am in the Florida Army National Guard and I have to have a permit. it really depends on you state laws, I say the best thing to do is check with your local Sheff's depermant.

I don't think this is true. I was in the army and I never heard of it. In fact, people who did have permits still were not allowed to bring their personal weapons on base. I suppose some states may have such a law, but if Texas doesn't (where I was stationed) I doubt it as they are pretty gun happy there.

Not true. They would still have to apply for a permit in their local communities.

And in fact - civilian concealed weapons permits are not valid on military installations.

Not true. Military members are only allowed to carry weapons for official reasons.

As soon as you step off the base, you are subject to the same state laws as everyone else.
