Computer Monitor Light Just Flashes?

Can you guys help me please?! I got an old-ish monitor off my uncle, and (it could just ge broken-but I want to be sure) when I plug everything in, have all cables fully connected, the computer will boot up properly and all the peripherals are working, except the monitor, it just stays black and the little green power light just flashes. Even when I press the monitor's power button, the screen wont come up and the light wont stop flashing- and when I disconnect the visual output cable it doesn't even give me the "No Signal" message. I assume the screens just screwed, but maybe its not. Does anyone know any possible solutions to this. Also, my old monitor was working on the computer until it blew its ray tube, so its not the computer.

Thanx in advance.

Hum, been there done that unfortunately....By chance do you have an extra monitor to plug in to your computer? If so, and it didn't work either, than a pretty good chance you have a bad video card in your computer...but also your uncle could have given you a "dead" monitor and if that's it, tell him he can have it back and it'll make a great door stop, otherwise junk...

Good Luck..
