computer games that could be turned into movies

Hey everyone,
what games do you lot think could be made into films.

My choice would have to be kingdom hearts
the reason for this is that it has a brilliant story
 
Broken Sword 1 and 2

any of the Zork games

Discworld Noir

Grim Fandango

The 7th Guest

Starship Titanic

Gabriel Knight games

Black Dahlia (which has been made/is being made into a film)

and The Monkey Island games

The trouble is that, when they turn video games into movies, they tend to leave bits of the game out so that all your left with, is a 3/4 authentic movie of the game. Your left watching a movie that when you have got into it, you are left thinking to yourself, well where's this, where's that. They should put ALL of the stuff in the movie, and then you might actually feel your watching the video game in all it's reality.

For example, they made street fighter the movie, but where was Chun Li's special kick at, or Ryu's dragon punch. They leave all these things out, and then your left feeling very dissapointed with the movie at the end. I would love to see the need for speed game turned into a movie, but they would have to include the drifts, the drag racing, and also winning the upgrades as well.

How about a Sonic the hedgehog game, but again, with everything included in the movie. The spinning of the hedgehog, the superfast spin, and Dr.Robotniks spaceship, and also realisticly Sonic pounding on objects as well.
 
turning games into movies is always a bad idea. They are never as good as the game, same rule applies when it comes to movies to games.
 
Peter Jackson is producing a Halo movie - I think that has the potential to be great...

Some of the adventure games would be good, although Pirates of the Caribbean owed as much to Monkey Island as the Disney ride! :)
 
Oh I don't know, I think the StarWars games could be pretty good by the looks of the vid caps. And anyway, if they don't start taking the movies and then turning them into games, then they might be a bit limited for things to create. The Harry Potter games turned out to be very good indeed.

It's just the video game turned movie that I find dissapointing. I suppose the early teens and the kiRAB won't mind if these kind of movies aren't that authentic, but older people who will notice the difference, tend to be a bit dissapointed at the end, I assume.

Yeah Tekken is being made and I have heard rumours about casting. Jet Li is going to be The Boxer and the rest of the cast are Australia’s Nathan Jones, Vicky Zhao, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Taylor Lautner (The Adventures of Sharboy and Lava Girl). Tekken is directed by Charles Stone III and it is described as a high-octane action movie about a young man who discovers he holRAB a great power and must battle a team of elite fighters who will stop at nothing in order to get it from him.
 
I must have read your mind, as soon as I saw the title for this thread i thought Kingdom Hearts!!

I think it would make a great film as long as some of the soppy stuff was played down a bit!! But the idea of all those disney characters in one film greatly appeals to me!!
 
I'd love to any of Noir, Fandango or GK1 made into games, The monkey islanRAB could work, and off the success of PotC the pirate market might be willing to take it....

The scripting behind games life Fandango and D. Noir were quite superb, and therein lies the strength of these games potentially being made into films. Games like Mario, Street Fighter and Doom, while Iconic had less of a story behind them, (though obviously Doom at least had a story premise)
 
I'd really like to see the sequence where you have to practive your sword fighting skills by learning new lines. A decent omntage sequence me thinks... ;)
