Computer crashes when playing games?

Whenever I play computer games the screen shuts off and the computer crashes about 2 minutes in. I know its not overheating and there are no problem with the specs. Why does this always happen and how can I fix it?

Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core Processor
8GB RAM
Directx 11
NVIDIA GeForece 9500 GT
