I think it's because a lot of the time when someone bashes a show, they usually end up comparing it to a show they watched as a kid. I've only seen a few people actually explain why they dislike a show (especially the LA ones on Nick/Disney) with actual valid complains (most of them sound like they've never even seen the show), and even fewer doing so without comparing it to a show they grew up with.
That, or they tend to talk as if everything from the 80s/90s was like Gargoyles and Beast Wars, but flat out ignore the shows like Street Sharks, C-Bear and Jamal, Hammerman, The Gary Coleman show, and etcetera.
