There are more than enough verses in the Bible that essentially state that murmuring and complaining is a sin and that we should take joy in what we have and be thankful for what the Lord has given us. However, does that mean Christians should never say anything bad? What about when things do go wrong in our lives? For instance, if you were to go through a terrible divorce, does this mean you should not complain and hold everything inside? I've always heard that talking about your feelings and even occasionally ranting to a good friend or accountability partner can be good for your health because it helps relieve some pressure. However, the BIble seems to contradict this and suggests that Christians should simply shut up and deal with it.
The other day I was talking with a close friend of mine about how I was having financial issues with my family because my father passed away recently and I guess you can say I was just upset and frustrated over how these things have happened in my life. A friend overheard the conversation and decided to show me several verses to not complain. I think you can imagine how angry I became at this friend.
