Comparing phones...which is best?

have you looked a getting a phone and flashing it to cricket??....right now i have a xv-6700 pocket pc phone...on cricket with all features working wap, mms, txt....etc

I'm in agreement with healthman. The xv6700 is the best phone cricket has... Too bad they don't have it.

Buy one on ebay and follow one of the many guides here to get it programmed onto cricket.

the best phone cricket offers is the 6265i. the slvr is really good price for the phone (probably a better value), but the 6265i has much better feature list. nokia is A+

I would have to agree with simple3: The Nokia 6265i is by far the BEST hanRABet Cricket has ever offered......ever. And I have owned EVERY flagship phone that the company sold, except the new KRZR.

But I also agree with the healthman about the xv6700: This phone rocks beyond belief on Cricket service! It's easy to flash, simple to upgrade, and is nothing less than satisfying. (Can you say "unlimited data"? ;) )

So there's your answer: The best CRICKET-branded hanset? The 6265i, hanRAB down. The best hanRABet FLASHED to Cricket service? My vote goes for the xv6700, no contest.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the 6265i has been around awhile, so I'm not surprised it's EOL. Part of my query was to see if any newer model is as good as the 6265i.

As to the xv6700... I also have a Treo 700w with VZW. I'm quite happy with this (except for the fact that unlimited data, 450 peak minutes, etc. costs me $98 monthly), so acquiring and modding another PDA phone probably isn't needed at this time. I used a TMO phone 1 1/2 years ago; voice was great, but data was slow as... VZW's EVDO speed and coverage won me over. I live at one edge of Cricket's Pittsburgh coverage, so having VZW's "works anywhere" coverage is another plus if I'm going in the "wrong" direction.

Looks like I better get a 6365i while they're still available! :2thurabs:

"BTW: You did know that could flash your Treo to Cricket, didn't you?"

But would I want to? I was about 50 miles from home this morning, which is out of the local Cricket coverage area, but the Treo worked great. I even looked something up on the Internet. I can use the Treo as a modem for my notebook almost anywhere in the country, and the speed is great if I'm in an EVDO area.

Cricket is great for what it does well, but it's not able to replace VZW, yet (I wish I could consolidate both cell phone bills into $50 + tax monthly :) ).

I've had the 6265i for about a month now (cricket) I previously had the remix. I've been selling phones for about three years and as far as cricket branded phones the 6265i gets my vote for best cricket so far!

Yeah,

I'd say go with the Nokia or a Flashed 6700/Treo...

Steer as clear as you can from Moto....

They have horrible software from my experience... (5 years in the industry)

What I tell a lot of my customers that travel a lot to do if they want Cricket is to get the $45/$50 plan and then get $100 worth of T-mobile To Go prepaid. It lasts for a year, it's 1000min, and it enRAB up just adding like $8.25/month to what ever they're spending on cell phones.

Since a lot of them are spending close to $100/month on their current provider, they're more than happy to save the extra $30/month.

I travel all over, Have cricket with the travel time and never had a problem with cricket service in east and midwest. have the $50 plan then add money to the travel time when needed. works great for me. I have xv6700 flashed to cricket

I wonder if you guys know about crickets new national plan? 55 bucks a month and you get to roam without travel time meaning you get like 100 roam mins anywhere there is a cricket partner IE VzW and those of us with a 6700 if you have picture messaging you have internet for free as well so you might pay an extra 5 bucks but now you have the entire US 0f A
cricket just keeps getting better and better

I'm curious, does the xv6700 have AIM on it?
Does the AIM and MSN work on cricket when flashed over?
I have a VX9800 on Cricket right now and I am looking for a similar phone but want the MMS and AIM/MSN to work.
As it does not on my VX9800

It does not have AIM builtin as far as I know, but since it is a Windows PDA, you can download several AIM applications to get it to work. I don't remeraber the names of any right now... but it shouldn't be too hard to find any with a little google love.

BTW, I have a VX9800 sitting on my desk flashed to VZW. Could you help me get it flashed to Cricket?

Thanks,

Rafster

No sorry currently Cricket doesnt support any mobile chat programs like AIM MSN or Yahoo unless you go through the portal. Though You can use msn mobile thats built into the xv6700 while using wifi. You can also have your AIM forwarded to your nuraber. I use that and i works well.
