Commonwealth Games

Got to admit the coverage provided is making me go WTF but probably for different reasons.

Events start 0330-0400 yet nothing is seen on BBC One or Two until 9am. The interactive service on Freeview has been crippled down to one stream down from two previously and much lower than the six available on satellite.

Looking at 8pm there was only 3 of the channels showing events. Freeview is showing Terry Wogan..again. When do they consider people that work all day. A schedule would be nice detailing what is on what channel, seems the BBC will not provide one of those.

Anything that takes lazy (often repeated and can be shown anytime) garbage like "Tat in the Attic", house makeovers, house buying and idiot audicences discussing stupid issues , off the air is fine by me.

There was a full stadium for the opening ceremony but lots of the other venues we have seen so far are almost empty.
I personally don't think a lot of visitors from around the world will attend given all the bad publicity and security fears. I do think that maybe tickets could be given to local less well off people to inject a bit of atmosphere.

Oh dear, its this again. The BBC is not catered to one specific person's taste, it is providing a service to everyone. The vast majority of weeks within the year are taken up by Bargain Hunt and the like, its only a few weeks which are dedicated to sport and yet that doesn't stop certain people moaning.

I don't like Wimbledon but I know a lot of people do. If you don't like it, its quite simple, you can turn it over. Daytime TV on ITV isn't that different to what the BBC show.

id prefer to watch the commonwealth games than that programme that has that orange man with a gap in his teeth that could fit a 50p coin!!!!!

if you dont like it you know what to do ...

GET UP & SWITCH OVER !!!!

A total waste of time.

The only people who are there are BBC employees!

Why are these so called 'amateur' sportspeople subsidised to such a great extent? - what's the point of throwing things about or running up and down as fast as they can?

Put the money into more worthy projects - such as young musicians.

Well it didn't take long for this thread to appear (and I was expecting it to). All I can say is for those of you not interested in anything sport related on television, I would suggest taking a rather long holiday in 2012 when the countdown to the Olympics really gets going. Oh and there will be the same again in 2014 for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Philistine! - I could easily live in a world without sport - but a world without music? - never.
Besides, any untalented pleb can run up and down a field - where's the beauty and intelect in that?
More money for musicians!

India was always a dodgy choice of venue. If it's not cricket - and India playing a one day match in particular - then the locals are not that fussed. Sport is just not such a big thing in their culture.

Back to the SPORT! - Does anyone know if the Beeb has commentators out there for the Rugby? I have a funny feeling it could be like the IRB set up Nigel Starmer Smith and other's (Australia/NZ Comms) doing the 7's commentary...

For some events the Beeb has taking other commentary from other channels (Sky Sport NZ or Network Ten!)

Well I want to watch it. I have to put up with flaming football and golf which I hate - interrupting my programmes - so i quite happy for the Commonwealth Games to interrupt in return.
