Commonwealth games coverage

Does anybody know if the studio that they are using is the one they also use for match of the day or if they are actually out there?
 
Is there sport going on too? I thought it was a chat show.

Ahh ok i thought the studio looked a lot like the motd studio. They should of sent them out, they're just doing it cheaply.
 
Well they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

They're saving money for an event that isn't that important.
 
In the Grand scheme of things it isn't really any cheaper doing it from London. For something like the CWG's they could have 2/3 presenters and a temp. studio/area and handful of crew...

In London all the production etc acctually costs more.



majority would disagree. OK the prep for this event has been poor, but the commonwealth games is second to the Olympics.. Isn't bad going for still a relatively newbie tournament.
 
It is definitely saving money using the studio in London and for me the quality doesn't suffer as a result. There were around 400 BBC staff in Beijing for the Olympics, just think of the expenses.

It will be the same Clair Balding whether she's in London or Delhi, it makes no difference. In fact I would take it further and keep the commentators at home, they're all working from tv screens anyway, they could do it from their sittingrooms. I think the BBC may be making other savings by sharing commentating duties with Australian and Canadian networks, good idea.
 
Baring in mind this isn't a World Cup style set-up needed, (i.e they don't need to build a studio). You could send out Sue, Clare and Jake, and a handful of crew compared to the costs of having the studio changed/set up, extra personal needed to babysit in the studio too, all the gallery, in the end it affectively costs more for the fortnight or so.



I was referring that it's an newbie by the revamp of the 'Commonwealth Games' name etc.
 
I think they should have too. I just find it a bit of an atmosphere killer when they go from the live coverage to some generic-looking studio.
 
What T.V channels is the games being shown on? Is it on live? I remember a number of year ago, it was alway shown live on both the BBC/ITV.
 
You have to laugh. They all went to Melbourne 4 years ago!

I guess, like so many athletes, they didn't fancy Delhi. I have to say that the coverage feels rather detached and soulless.
 
I'm a huge sports fan and would normally be glued to the Commonwealth Games coverage but this years I've hardly seen any of it.

From the clips I have seen on TB it looks like the crowRAB are smaller than you get at a school sports day.
 
At Lunchtime there was about 7 of them sitting round the settee.

Johnson, Diane, Colin, Clare, Inverdale (arse), Thorpe, Mark Foster .

add

Jake, Sue , Hazel

and it adRAB up to more than the Hockey, athletics , netball crowd all together.

All of them except thorpe foster johnson with nothing worth hearing .
 
I think the BBC actually only agreed the Broadcast rights for this earlier this year so that may account for the lower key coverage. Given that most of the live action is on during the day when peeople are at work it makes sense not to send everyone out there. This can be justified for the Olympics but not for the lower profile Commonwealth Games.
 
I'd like to know why we have to have Jerusalem as our National Anthem?

What happened to Land of Hope and Glory? They can gladly get rid of God Save the Queen (the UK anthem) but why Jerusalem?
