Commercial Arts Software?

In my commercial arts class, the teacher was supposed to teach us to use a software that we never got around to. It's used to create characters for videos games and such. I never really used it, but i would like to get it and i dont remember the name. Can anyone help me? Oh and it starts off with something like looks like a ball of clay and then you can mold it into faces or whatever you want. HELP thanks 1♥D
