i want to upgrade from a ninja 250 to a 600cc. i like the zzr cause it is supposed to be the most comfortable. are there any other 600cc sport bikes that are good for commuting (100miles) and long weekend trips to the canyons for some carving? is FI better than carb's?

I had a Ninja 250 and I went to the '06 ZZR 600. I love the 600. It has an excellent price point in comparison to the other 600's and it is half the insurance (really) than the super racy looking bullet bikes. It has a more relaxed riding position that is easier on your back for long trips. The seat has more padding for your butt and it gives your passenger a lot more seat area. The 600 is super fast, you need to respect its additional power. I took my ZZR on a 500 mile trip when I got it and I loved it. The carb. thing I like, less parts, and it works great. The ZZR600 since it's a 4 cylinder requires a little more rpm to get going at stop lights in comparison to the Ninja 250, you will kill your engine a couple times getting used to it. Buy one!!!

All the mfgrs make a really hot, single-purpose 600cc sport bike. The GSX-R, CBR, etc. And then a more general-purpose bike, usually a version of the sport bike but with a more comfortable seating position, more padding in the seat, wider powerband. The ZZR600 is sort of a compromise. Even more general-purpose would be the Honda 599 (aka Hornet). Or a Suzuki SV650 or V-Strom.

If it was me, if I was commuting 100 miles at a time, I'd want something with a full fairing or at least a big ol' windshield. Battling the wind takes a lot out of you. The V-Strom is probably the least sporty of the options here but for longer distances it is the most comfortable and the most general-purpose. And it will do canyon-carving just fine.

well 100 miles is fine for a quicky ride, I personally like the yamaha 600's better then anyone else's. they have the latest tech compared to everyone else and come in 2 versions, a detuned version for people who would cruise and carve, and a hot version for strictly racing.
you can compare both on yamaha's web sites.

gee to difficult to go to a dealership and find out first hand? TAKE THE BUS IDIOT
