I was taking nearly 500mg of oxycontin per day for a painful condition which was prescribed by my doctor.

I am 14 weeks pregnant and when I found out I cut down as much and as quickly as possible. So far and with alot of discomfort I have managed to cut down to 70mg per day oxycontin.

Although this has been hard, I seem to be finding this last 70mg almost impossible to cut down any further! The withdrawal I get even from cutting a further 5mg is horrible...the crawling arms are the worst.

I am worrying alot about this as I am aware that I need to get off this stuff as soon as possible and I really don't want to do harm to my baby. Does anyone have any tips or ideas to help?

Thank you so much, I didn't know where else to turn...

See your doctor ASAP and let them know the whole situation. Do not do this on your own! You need to be advised by a physician about how to taper and detox.

I agree, you must be upfront with your doctors. You are at 14 weeks now, so they may even have you stay on the Oxy as you have passed your first trimester. When I was pregnant, I was prescribed Oxy starting around my 20th week of pregnancy for extreme pain I was having in my left side. It was extremely worrisome to me because I knew it was effecting my baby but unfortunately it was the only thing to help with the pain. My baby did have some withdrawals when he was born, but it was extremely minor and we did not have to stay any longer in the hospital or anything. He is just fine now at almost 2 years old. It may be more hurtful to the baby since he/she has already been exposed to it and I think would suffer withdrawals as well. You need to talk to your doctors and let them determine what is best for you. It sounRAB like you did a pretty fast taper from a high level of Oxy which must have been very difficult. Is your painful condition no longer a problem? If you are still in pain, it is most likely going to be further aggravated the further you get in your pregnancy.
