.::Coming-of-Age/Teen Movies::.

Newsies is an awesome movie. I rented it just to see Portman from Mighty Ducks dance and ended up really loving it.

Oh, ok, so no lists? I can get rid of those, sorry. Just out of curiosity...howcome?

Yeah, and their "wheelies", lol.

Awwww, I'm sorry you never got a chance to see it as a kid. I get what you mean about seeing it now, but having it not be the same.

Stand By Me is also another favorite, I always cry. The acting is amazing in that movie, especially from River.

I also love Now and Then and Clueless.

I think St. Elmo's Fire and Sixteen Candles are two of the best coming-of-age stories. I can relate to them so much.

Well, i don't relate to 10 things i hate about you but i loved it anyway, all the characters were amazing, i loved Heath Ledger since this movie, and even i'm a big fan of teen comedies i just love this movie, is so funny, and it doesn't have a bunch of unnecesary sex scenes like most of the others "teen comedies" have

I also love pretty in pink, even the story was a little cliché, i liked it, i loved Duckie, John Cryer was great in this movie

Great thread. :)

I love Man on the Moon, so sad, sweet, and beautiful at the same time. I never tire of it. Another coming of age movie that I like is Now and Then. It was one of my favorites as a kid.

My favorite teen movie will always and forever be Clueless, But I agree about Lucas. It's what the teen movie should be. Everything is perfect. I also love the John Hughes movies.

I've never seen Harriet the Spy. I'm sad that I never got to watch it as a kid because I know I would've loved it. I could watch it now, but it won't be the same.

FANTASTIC MOVIE....

One of my all time favorites.. Reese and Jason had such great chemistry and talk about some acting chops. Reese was terrific. I have probably seen the movie more the Dirty Dancing and that is saying alot. I cry everytime, it never fails.

I must point out that discussion, obviously, is allowed (forget I even said that :embarrassment: ) but lists are not. You can discuss all the movies you want to heaven and back but without listing them.

Great topic, I'll jump in later. :wiggle:

I think Raising Victor Vargas is a great coming of age movie. And so is cult thriller A Reflection of Fear, which is a must-see.

Yeah, that was funny too! I loved all of Mac's scenes with Eva. They had really good chemistry. Like the part where Roland asks "Scared of being seen with a cripple?" LOL

Harriet the Spy was my favorite movie growing up. I wanted to be her. I also have a passion for writing, and I had my own spy kit, and was all decked out like she was.

Oh, no worries. :D I do what I can. ;)

My favorite Coming-of-age film is Stand By Me. Everytime I watch it I still cry. Plus I remember River Phoenix and how his life turned out.

That movie really captured nostalgia and heart that's why I like it.

Another is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants :)

edit to add - MY GIRL! That movie is awesome.
