Yes...yes...yes.. it was the Robert Culp/ sumbliminal cut one again this afternoon.
Seen it approximately a million times, but these old one never fail.
A Jack Cassidy one next week, would be ideal.

ps I know this is not strictly a movie thread, but you get more interesting and enjoyable comment in this forum.

If you like Columbo you cant get away from him at the moment.
FIVE are showing the 80's/90's movies every week, and the first season set of those is actually just out on R1 dvd.

Hallmark are also showing them and UK Gold are showing the 1971 first season daily in the morning this week (5 of them anyway)

Of course the 2 pilot movies are missed as usual.

IIRC Robert Culp and Jack Cassidy are joint holders of the most appearances as murderers in the original series

Seem to remember Patrick McGhoohan offing a few people as well.

Why don't they just stay silent at the end, a good brief would get the case thrown out if they didn't blab "You got me " to Columbo.

McGhooan did appear and direct some of the original series,
but he made quite a few appearances and did more directing too in the 80's/90's ones

The PM directed episode "Identity Crisis" is apprently a kind of Prisoner tribute .

In various shots you can see McGhooan wearing the same style of trainers that he did throughout The Prisoner.

There are other little bits of trivia but my treasured Columbo Phile book is out of reach at the moment.

One of my faves has to be the the guy with the sky high IQ who kills another guy with a high IQ! It was great because Columbo could not figure out how he did it!
The ending is a classic. Outstanding.

For anyone interested ,now that R1 has completed the dvd releases of the original 70's series, the first set of the Columbo revival movies is now available.

The 1989 collection has 5 movies and is

It is great but thanks to the Series Black Books all I can ever think about is the Cobumbo impression

Is it the magician episode where his wife buys him a new coat and he tries to leave it everywhere?

I don't know the name of the episode but I remember how much he hated his new coat.
He couldn't think straight with it on LOL.

I loved the episodes with his dog.
The writers or whoever thought they would introduce a side-kick, but Peter was opposed to the idea. They suggested a dog, but Peter Falk was not too keen.

I think the 'dawg' worked well.

Yes. Without a doubt he knew he did it. But he didn't know how he did it because when Columbo tried it... it couldn't be done, the timing was off (I'm going by memory here!).
If Columbo could prove it himself he would have. But as you say TB, he used the guys pride/ego to incriminate himself.
