i graduated high school with a certification in electrical installation.. and that helped me get a job in the MTA which pays decent..

i took a year off from school because i had to go to the MTA signal school..now i recently started going to college..and so far its been nothing but stress..i have no time for anything during the week..and i have no interest in school..i hate school but i do enjoy electrical..now im thinking of not going to school anymore because i have a feeling ill be paying a lot and just fail in the end because i lack interest in doing homework and writing reports ect.

i want to become a firefighter which doesn't require college..just 6 months of fulltime satisfactory work experience..

i think the only reason i started going to college because i got tired of people telling me that i should go to school and i always get these expressions like people think im gunna end up not making a lot of money and be broke all the time in the future when paying mortgages and other bills come in

but being a firefighter and saving lives is what i want to do at the moment..and i dont care about money..i just need enough to live comfortable because being rich like those stock brokers or what ever i feel like all they care about is having money and i dont need soo much money to make me happy..im not the materialistic type..

should i hold off college? i wanna see if firefighting is for me because i always wanted to do something like that all my life..save lives ect. ..and to become one u gotta have a lot of stamina..and i have no time to work out and i also wanted to become a volunteer but with school theirs no way i can do it..should i hold off school to see if this is what i truly wanna do? can someone help me?

btw im 19
P.S. my current job i also enjoy but firefighter is what i always wanted to be

I agree with B Rad.

However, if you really hate school, no one knows you better than yourself, and if you think youre wasting your time, even if you push yourself, if you lack interest and motivation, you wont appreciate what youre learning.

I took off from school after finishing Community College, I wasnt sure what I wanted, and one year turned into 3! Now I want to go back, and im finding it a bit difficult! I could have been making triple of what I am today had I just continued, total bummer.

Take your time to evaluate your goals...and money doesnt seem like an issue now, but trust me, as you get older...it will. Dont take too much time thinking...

like Nike says, Just Do It

You can work, and forget about school, but always find ways to better yourself in your career.

Maybe go to school part-time and take 1 or 2 classes and work training to be a firefighter in with those. Becoming a well rounded citizen will pay off in the end in case you get injured in the line of duty (hope not) or something like that happens, you will have the education to fall back on, even if its only 2-3 courses they will help you in the long run and can still be beneficial.
