College in India vs. College in U.S.?

I've been looking at both options, and it turns out that to apply to colleges in India, I come under the NRI (Non-resident Indian) quota, and have to take the CET exam. I looked at sample CET papers, and it was basically like the SAT (maybe a little bit harder on the math part).

The main problem was physics. I have only taken basic physics at my high and the questions on the CET exam seem to be more of AP physics questions. Next year, I will be taking AP Bio and AP Chem so I don't have space/time for another AP science class. However, physics is covered on the CET...if I take it I will most probably bomb that part. Is it possible to get into a good college in India if I completely flunk the physics part and do well on the other parts? Is there any other way to get into colleges in India?

Also, I am planning to go to medical school. In the U.S., to go to medical school, I have to do a preliminary four years of pre-med, or whatever major I like. But I heard that in India I can go straight to med. school? Can anyone provide clarification on how that works? Also, I don't plan to have a permanent practice in India; I intend to come back to the U.S. and practice here. What is the process for doing that (besides taking the MCAT)? I also heard that getting into NITs and IITs was different from getting into the other colleges. Does anyone know what are the requirements to get into those colleges?
