college in california?

im only a jr in high school right now but i think its time for me to start thinking about what i wanna do for college...i live in florida but i don't wanna stay here for college i wanna go out on my own and see a new place and i heard california(LA) is a good place to go and for some reason i really wanna go there. so i just wanna know what are some good college's over there with good dorms ..yea my first year i think i wanna stay in a dorm to meet people because i well know no one when i get there :) so please tell me what are some good college's over there with good dorms. thanks you. and btw before i go over there im gonna go check it out and actually go see if i like it. so if you have any places you think i should go to please tell:)))
and also in the dorms how are the showers like do you have to wait in line to take one and is it closed or open....?
 
There are many colleges in California, from CSU's to UC's. Check this site out, it has a more in depth description of every college in California.

- UCLA, UCB are the two best UC's academic wise, UCSB is in a terrific location, and some enticing CSU's in desirable locations are Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and CSU Long Beach. Big city feel colleges are there as well, CSU LA (if UCLA is too high an admission rate), and even a college like SJSU (San Jose State University).

There are alot of great colleges with terrific locations, and one for all levels of academic excellence. If your grades are over 3.5 with good extra curriculars, I'd suggest looking at UC's, if it's lower, there are over 20 CSU's that each have their own different qualities.
