College housing, what happens when a roommate switches?

It depends on whether or not there is a waiting list for housing spots. If there are people waiting for places, then you will probably get a new roommate. I highly doubt that you will get to approve anything. If there is no waiting list, then you'll have that big double room all to yourself!

My roommate is moving in with a friend of hers, who's roommate is switching rooms. The other roommate is moving into a single, so no one is displaced. I was wondering what would happen in my room. The RA said that she's know that sometimes when people leave doubles, the other person doesn't even get a roommate. What I want to know is if they find someone to be placed in my room, would I be allowed to approve a the new roommate or would they just place someone in my room?
