My finace is graduating soon. He took courses at two other local schools over the summer to get the last of the required credits he needed to complete his degree. The only problem we have now is the 9000 balance left at his school. He can't get his diploma and start the job hunt until we pay the balance.
Both of us do not have great credit right now. Neither do his parents. We have already tried (and failed) to apply for loans to pay for it. My parents are not willing to help us out. He also says that his Federal Student aid has been "tapped out" since he is graduating a year and a half later than the normal undergrad.
How are some ways we can pay off this debt or defer it til later? Are there any programs in place to help people in this situation out? I feel as though this is probably happening to quite a few people since college tuition just goes up as more people get laid off and lose income sources.
Thanks in advance for any advice or help!
EDIT: We do not have good credit so we are not able to qualify for a credit card with a 9000 limit!
