College blows

I mean seriously. You'd think that at a higher education level, people would learn to grow up right? Wrong. I've met some people here that make my little brother look like a king. Good lord. I can't get any fucking privacy. Can't get a girlfriend. Grades are blowing because I'm fucking miserable. It's fucking retarded. Man, I just feel like I'm going to explode!

I dunno if this is how it really is, but in movies college is depicted as one big party :P so im guessing thats just movies ...

I don't really know what to say because im not in the situation. Im in high school, sucks the big one but i get to go away at the end of the day.

For the privacy thing ... make it known that the lack of it is bothering you. If there's still no change, maybe you can find somewhere else to study or do your work (if thats what you want privacy for), or you could ask someone at the college about your options.

As for people being immature etc, thats just people... your always gonna get some that just irk you. Gotta deal with that ... but you can try not to be around them.

Girlfriends will come when they come, and if your grades are going downhill then you really should try and suss out how to fix these problems. Sorry if i havnt been much help but thats all i can say, hope everything turns around soon.

Well I'm going to Michigan State University soon. I'm going to be a real estate agent so I can go into peoples houses and sell them.

So I'm going to be a boring, dull average person with a nice car in 4 years.

Up until the end of high school, I'd have my own room. With a roomie, I can't have that anymore. His music and lack of appreciation for other people (when I'm trying to read or sleep, he'll crank it). I just need some alone time. Everyone does.

Maybe it's just me, but college sucks ass. Perhaps it'll be better for you.

Is there any chance you could change rooms/get a new room-mate?

Maybe you could get a room with someone you know has the same work-ethic, or at least you know isnt ignorant to other's wants and needs.

As someone who has gone through high school, college, and is now in the working world, I am going to clue you guys in on one of the biggest lies ever. They will tell you that college is nothing like high school. They will tell you that life is nothing like high school.

"They" are fucking lying.

It doesn't really change. Faces and names change, but essential character traits don't.

In college, there are cliques, people that will bag on you for no real reason, and teachers that will nitpick every little thing you do. Your roommate will sexile you. Plus all the added pressure that you are paying insane amounts of money for the priviledge.

In the office where I work, there is a battle between 2 people for who gets the most work. They call each other names, threaten each other, and tattle on each other to the "teacher" aka boss. And you will still probably have to have a roommate. Who will sexile you.

Life will probably improve some after you've been working for a while, but likely, you'll be working too hard to enjoy it.

This sounds very bleak. And it is. But the alternative sucks even more.

You see? I knew college had to be overhyped.

Everyone makes it look like it's the greatest fucking thing in the world. Yesterday I was at a doctor(not exactly a psychiatrist, but she had run tests on me before) who said that what I was going through now was probably going to be the worst part of my life. Not just because of the upcoming changes, but because I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and depression while all this heavy weight was on me anyway. You know what I say? I don't believe that shit for shit. People just don't change. Most of them go through life doing the same stupid crap they've always been able to get away with because nobody has the courage to tell them to shut up.

If you see a frat brat near you acting up, tell him to shut the fuck up for the sake of humanity. I encourage anyone to do this. Let the "beautiful people" know they're no better than us.

Jesus man, lighten up a bit, college is a time for drunkenness, debauchery and promiscuity. You probably have the misfortune of living in the dorms, eh? If you can, try to get into a student work program, and find an apartment. I know the dorms can be an idiot fest. I never lived in them myself, but I spent enough time in military barracks to feel your pain.

If you're falling behind in grades, why not just study in the library?

Wow, what a depressing outlook on life.

Btw, what the fuck does "sexile" mean?

Gosh, thanks for editing my post in your reply. Everything sounds better when a man says it.

Sexiled - to be exiled from a room/house by sucky roommate so said roommate can get laid.

i hear ya dude college is gay. it shouldnt have to be that the only to have fun is to get drunk every night. im all for drinkin, but goddamn.

seriously heres to college :mfinger: :mfinger: two fingers up, way up

Sorry, I saw no point in quoting your entire reply; it would add nothing to the thread.

Still, my opinion stands. Life is what you make of it, and from your words, I doubt your life will ever been anything better than high school. I hope that's not the case though.

I never got "bagged on" during college, and never had any run ins with evil cliques. While I did have some professors who were eccentrically pedantic, I never lost focus of why I was there; to get my degree. I had a lot of fun in college, it's pretty much the last time in life that you're allowed to be semi-responsible.

I've been out of college for quite some time now, and my experiences have been great so far. I love my job, and I really couldn't imagine myself doing anything else. The office politics don't really bother me either, on the contrary, they add humor to my day. I tend to take everything with a grain of salt though; there is no point in dwelling on small things. It just leads to a depressing existence.

Also, nice stereotype there.

Personally, I never minded if my roommate had something going on, I could always find something else do to, and likewise, he extended the same courtesy to me. The dorms just suck in general, but there are other alternatives. Anyway, just my :twocents:.

College differs from HighSchool in that you have the opportunity to take charge of your affairs. I think the variable that effects the quality of your enjoyment of college the most is money. The problems I here most often described by most people who hate their time in college can all be fixxed by having more money. The good times I hear about almost always facilitated by money.
My experience agrees:
It took me roughly 5 years to graduate. The first 4 were covered financially by arrangments I made by way of the Army. I had a great time! Parties, debachery, spending weekends in a drunken stuppor. The last year (after the fundage pool ran out) was rougher. I lived a spartan existence. Worked 3 jobs to keeps my bills paid and struggled to stay awake in class. I barely had enough money to eat. Could not afford car insurance, etc...
The moral of the story:: to really enjoy the college experience to its fullest, you cannot be restricted by lack of fiscal resources. Here are some ways to prepair yourself financially for college:
1. Be born with rich parents, Pro's: you don't have earn the money yourself, you can focus on studying. Con's: you don't have a choice in the matter.
2. Jack them up a bunch of rich people. Pro's: it's a very time effecient way to level the playing field. Con's: you might get busted and sent to prison to toss salad.
3. Join the Armed Forces for 4 years and get the Montegomery GI-Bill: Pro's: you might get stationed somewhere really cool and have a really badass mission. Being a veteran looks good on a resume. Con's: you might be sent to some God foresaken place to be shot and killed. If you survive, you'll be the oldest freshman in most of your classes.

I chose option 3, enjoyed the college experience, and graduated. Then you have to find a job. That's the part I'm working on now.
