When I took my college astronomy class, we had lab every other week at night (after sundown) for about three hours out at the university's observatory. We learned constellations, learned about how stars & planets move in the sky, learned about the moon (and looked at it in a telescope), got to use a variety of telescopes, and learned the history of constellation names. It was a lot of fun.
