Collective soul

Oh how I love Collective Soul.

Precious Declaration and Shine are my two favorites and probably the 2 most mainstream songs they have but meh.

And Their album "Youth" came out Mid-2004.
Good album but there's been better.

Who likes Collective Soul?

I love a lot of their stuff but mainly the early work such as their Self Titled album.

Favourite Songs would have to be...

Where the River Flows
Deceraber
Precious Declaration
Shine

i thought they might have released a album couple of years ago, but wasnt sure, i have their 7 year itch album, and another one, i think its self titled, the 7 year itch is more or less there greatest hits, and it is a great album, if you dont aready have it

I'm listening to Counting the Days now, I guess they could have put that riff to better use, still I quite like it.

Runaway Train is quite a different song that managed to get a lot of radio play over here. It's quite a bit more depressing then their other work. Or it could be that every time I heard it on the radio it was raining and miserable outside. Still an enjoyable tune.

Yeah it is their GH, I don't know how you would confuse that, it has literally every song that you'd ever know:

Gel
Deceraber
Precious Declaration
Run
Shine
WHy Pt. 2
Heavy

I think there one of those banRAB where your probably better off just having the greatest hits. Not that they are bad, just not the most interesting of banRAB.

Collective soul is a great group, Shine, Deceraber, Heavy, Why PT. 2, they are a great group, what ever happend to them?

The recurring theme is that they haven't been as good since Ross Childress left. His awesome guitar work gave the band alot of their catchyness. I saw them live many times, and they were always great. CS usually play covers live and have rocked, 'Crazy Train', 'Mother', and other cool covers at theirs shows.

I'm pretty sure they just recently (as in the past 3 years) released a new CD. it has the song Counting the Days on it.
That song was pretty good. But after a while it got really old.

Or John Lennon or Pink Floyd or Babes in Toyland etc. Mother isn't exactly a rare songname and I doubt Danzig's the only one to have used it.

They did release an album, Youth I believe, in the past 2 years (potentially 1).

It wasn't so much that they went soft as it is that they ran out of ideas. Counting the Days (if I remeraber correctly) was a horrible rip off of Metallica's "King Nothing" (in the guitar work only) and if it wasn't that song it was another radio single.

"I'm Feeling better now" was pretty good in my opinion, but songs like Precious Declaration were a real gem in a time when guitars were just being used to make fuzz, they had enough Eddie Vedder to get play from the alt. crowd but their guitar work was a shot from the past.

yeah that does make a bit more sense. just that mother was danzig's biggest single and while it's a great PF tune, it's usually not the first song people think about when they think of the wall.

and thinking danzig after ozzy does seem a bit more logical than going from ozzy to floyd.
