Collectible Card Games based on Cartoons and Anime.

Is anyone here a collector or an avid player of any collectible card games based on any anime or cartoons? The reason I ask is that in my store it's a fairly big business for me and I sell a lot of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's cards, Naruto cards and a small ammount of the Huntik/Chaotic cards, and it seems like as a whole the medium has been popular for quite some time. I was in a Target earlier today and saw a booster set of Ben 10: Alien Force cards so being the curious cat that I am, I decided to give it a gamble and bought some to see what they were like, not bad at all! So, anyone a collector/player? If so, then what kind of cards are you into?

Well, I'm not really into them like I used to be. I never play them at school, but whenever I go home, I like to play them on occasion.

Hmm, I've probably played about 10 different types of CCGs over the years. Generally, I find the best ones to be based on shows that actually incorporate the game into the TV show (such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Bakugan). Games that are developed as an afterthought tend to be less engaging and more redundant.

My all-time favorite would have to be Yu-Gi-Oh!. It has withstood the test of time pretty well, managing to add hundreds of new cards without too much oversaturation. I also have to give props to Huntik. Although it's a relatively new face on the CCG market, it's a really fun game. It incorporates ideas from the show in a excellent manner by assigning missions for you to complete, so the object of the game is always changing. I like to think of it as a enhanced version of chess.

Used to get a lot of Pokemon TCG when I was a kid. I was mostly getting a lot of the Japanese ones, because they were more rare then the U.S ones. I did got a big bag full of them, but gave them away for money.

DBZ TCG was a hit & miss for me. Never learned how to play them, but it was fun getting them for a while.

Yu-Gi-Oh was like Pokemon to me, but it didn't lasted long...Though I finally knew how to play the game for once!

As a kid I collected various Pokemon cards but never really took the time to learn the rules of the game. I actually played the game once or twice but I quickly quit afterwards because it bored me. I also collected a few cards from other favorite anime like DBZ, Digimon, Monster Rancher, and Yu Yu Hakusho.

Not too long after that I started buying Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and had a blast because I was really interested in playing and not just collecting like with the all the previous tcg's I bought. I collected the cards for about two or three years but the because new booster packs were being released every three months it was hard for me keep on top of all the extra rules, monsters, and etc. It was also getting to be pretty costly so I stopped collecting them. However, in 2006 I begin to take interest in the handheld Yu-Gi-Oh! DS videogames which follow the exact rules of the card game. Now, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the latest game which comes out in May.

I actually still collect Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. I don't play the Pokemon card game. For some reason, I could never get into it, even when the video game for the card game came out on the Game Boy Color. I just like the artwork on the cards.

I don't collect nearly as much Yu-Gi-Oh! cards as I do with Pokemon cards. I actually got a fairly good understanding of how the game works by watching the different Yu-Gi-Oh! seasons and series. I did always like whenever I got a dragon card though since I really love dragons. I did get the first DS Yu-Gi-Oh! game, Nightmare Troubadlor, but I don't think that it was as fun as GX Spirit Caller, mainly because of the amount of cards a player could get in Spirit Caller was greater than that of NT. So now, I just play the Yu-Gi-Oh! video games too. I wouldn't want to go into tournaments in my area anyway just because I would feel kind of shy and nervous. Playing the video games gives me the enjoyment of the game in the confort of my own home.

Back in the day I went crazy over Pokemon cards but who didn't?

Nowadays I only play the first and best TCG ever.. Magic: The Gathering. (Which isn't based off of a cartoon or anything.)

It's funny because I don't even play the games, I just collect the cards now and keep them in binders and keep the rare and chase cards in plastic card sleves. In my store, I sell a good ammount of CCG's and the demand for older Yu-Gi-Oh! seems to be getting bigger and bigger, I may have to win some auctions on eBay and resell the cards for a profit. I plan on trying to complete the Chaotic: Marillion Invasion, Huntik and Ben 10: Alien Force cards for my own personal collection, and then I will work on completing the Naruto card sets in the future.

Sorry for the double post but I felt what I have to say calls for it. I was shopping around a Flea market for a while yesterday and found some Chaotic cards for really cheap, so I picked up a box and 3 seperate packs and kept them until I got into my store today to open them. I am just selling packs out of the box for $1.99 each since I got the box so cheap and I opened the three single packs I purchased for my own collection and I ended up with the infamous Chaor card that is considered the rarest card in the set and can sell for over $100-$200 online if the code has not been used, and usualy between $30-$75 if the code has already been registered. This is kind of exciting because it's one of the best finds as a collector of anything that I have found in about a year.
