Colin Farrels axed scenes

So the story on the front page says that Colin Farrels Gay Sex scenes with Francisco Bosch in the new movie "Alexander" will be cut.

I'm not going to get all soapboxy about acceptance and peoples attitudes. I'm only going to say it's a damn shame and a reflection on how Hollywood views the general viewing public as a bunch of conservative prudes.

I hope to god they put the scenes back in as extras on the DVD release.
 
I totally agree Will.

If they are going to portray Alexander in an historically accurate way the should show both sides of his sexuality.

Unfortunately, most of Hollywood think with their bank balances and get worried what Middle America thinks. This leaRAB to less diversity in films and everyone suffers. Thank god for DVRAB where there is a chance to put back some of the scenes they might take out.

The fact of the matter is, this film cost a huge amount ($150mil+) and they want to make a profit, and there are a LOT of people who just don't want to see anything remotely gay, never mind gay sex scenes, on tv/film.
 
But Middle America loves gay people. 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy', 'Will and Grace', 'The L Word' etc.

...or maybe they have just realised that they don't love gay people after all... :rolleyes:
 
I think there is a big difference between seeing Gay people on screen in a non-sexual way as in Queer Eye and Will & Grace (can't comment on the The L Word, as I haven't seen it) and seeing gay sex however tame it is. Queer Eye and Will & Grace go for the comedy value of camping it up and that's been acceptable for a very long time.
 
Why are they allowed (or don't mind showing) Heterosexual Sex? The only difference between it and Gay sex is an extra appendage and no breasts.

Having a film about Alexander which doesn't even show his queer side is like making a film about Bob Hope and leaving out any reference to him bieng a comedian.

They HAVE to put the scenes on the DVD. The scenes were made, they must be viewed.

That said - let's not forget the popular series 'Queer As Folk'; that's a little bit more than camp comedians running around the place ...
 
Um, this report is completely unconfirmed - this was one tabloid article quoting the usual anonymous 'insider' and 'source' and everyone's getting hysterical about it! Just calm down and don't believe everything you read.

Did no-one notice that the big huge shiny final trailer was released the exact same day this 'report' came out? This is nothing but a publicity stunt and there's no way Oliver will allow anyone to tamper with his film.
